Senior Front-End Developer (Lead UI)

A legal technology company providing web based applications with expertise in legal, intelligence, analytics, data science and data visualization.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead UI JavaScript developer to help build out our litigation analytics platform. You'll be joining a small but focussed team; full of ambition, ideas, and dedicated to changing the way high-value litigation decisions are made - whether by integrating machine learning, creating new data visualisations and UI tools or building new data ingestion pipelines.

This role sits within the engineering team - a small but focussed team that is full of ambition and ideas, passionate about writing excellent code to solve real-world problems. We're also a social, friendly, social bunch who often have socials (in-person or virtual) to help foster a collaborative, open and ideas-focussed culture.

Knowledge of the legal industry is not required - we only ask that you have a passion for building build user-centric tools and that you can demonstrate experience of working on complex, business-critical systems at scale.

You'll be expected to:

• Lead feature development in our App to support our growth
• Architect our migration from Angular to React/Vue.js
• Ensure that the existing App runs smoothly during re-platforming
• Mentor junior team members and support them in developing features
• Prototype to quickly test out new ideas and experiments
• Advocate and practice disciplined software engineering principles
• Have a keen eye for detail

Candidate Requirements

• 5+ years experience developing highly-optimised UI
• A deep working knowledge of JavaScript (ideally with Angular/React/Vue.js)
• Built complex layouts with CSS (ideally with SASS)
• A passion for building end-user value through great UX
• The knowledge and confidence to know when to (and not to) use OOP or Functional programming
• Used automated testing to ensure your software is robust, trusted, and protected against future changes
• Worked in outcome-focussed, high-output teams with all the usual tools (Agile, Scrum, Git, Jira, etc. or similar)
